How to play

Press Enter, or Space, or Click anywhere to control the game.

  1. Press once to start running, and then rapidly press as much as you can to build up your power meter before you reach the flag.
  2. Once you reach the flag, you'll start aiming.
  3. Press again to launch your head at the angle you're aiming.
  4. Press again while in mid-air for a small boost. You can boost as many times as you still have power left.
  5. Once you've landed, you can Press to reset and start again.

I'm not sure what the maximum throw is, but I think it's a little over 30m. I could probably math it out to find the exact theoretical perfect throw, but where's the fun in that? (c:

About

For my first actual project, I wanted something that was relatively simple so that I had a good chance of being able to have something I could call "complete" within a finite time (ideally 2 or 3 weeks working during free time / weekends), but also not so trivial that I don't learn anything. I can't start learning from my mistakes until I start making them.

The idea was inspired by a vague memory of a C64 space sports game collection where one of the events involved an alien running and throwing its head for distance. I wasn't going to replicate that game, but just the concept of throwing gave me something simple to focus on, to let me learn Godot as well as try to warm up an increasingly lazy brain.

edit 20231011: I found it! The collection was called "Galactic Games", and it turns out the individual 'event' I was remembering was also just called.. "Head Throwing". Oops.

Head Throwing Gameplay

It's fun.I want to try throwing the heads of various characters.

I had a fantastic time playing the game! I'm excited about the prospect of its continuation. It would be fantastic if you could subscribe to my YouTube channel—I'm looking forward to playing any upcoming games you develop!
